The writer Louis de Benieres describes the relationship of lovers as two trees growing together as one. The Song of Songs encircles the lovers, growing together. On the working drawing - how the etchings often start - are charcoal lines which can be easily changed; sometimes pieces of paper are stuck on to get bits right.
