Commissions
Commissions are welcome and the way it can be done is to contact Janet and to discuss:
- Subject - Size - Medium - When Required
I have made several family paintings, and limited edition etchings, for special events - weddings, birth of children, birthdays, celebrations of a life.
I need to meet either in person, correspondence, phone or video connection, to work out how it will look, special details and a chance to make the first the first drawings and photographs.
Sometimes it is important to make studies in situ, and if that is not possible, access to personal photos will work well.
When I have made suggestions of a composition, the drawing up begins and from then on I send progress photos of the etching plates or the painting. At completion I arrange a viewing, again in person or video link etc, and check if any additions are needed. Of course during the drawing or painting stages, changes of mind, eg extra cats, dogs and horses can be said. (Depending on how ample they might be).
Pricing of commissions
This is dependent on the size and complexity of the painting or etching and the edition. The prices relate to the level of my most recent paintings. I have been known to do swaps, mostly for individual etchings, eg A Henry Crabbe hen house, a year’s supply of cakes when all of our boys lived at home, a year’s worth of ironing. Money is also acceptable.
Payment
Preferred is 30% deposit at the beginning of the commission and the balance at completion. Framing can be arranged.
