A gallery director gave the name to this etching and I have kept it. I worked outside with the hens, drawing on to a hard ground on a steel plate, drawing the hens and ducks, the almond trees, the hills beyond and the arising cumulo nimbus clouds. The drawing technique is partly in deference to Samuel Palmer, a 19th century English artist and print-maker. As I drew, red hen jumped on to the etching plate, so her face is in detail in the foreground.
